An intercross between C3H/HeJ+/wan x CAST/EiJ inbred mouse strains was generated to identify QTLs that modify the hereditary spherocytosis (HS) phenotype. RBC count, hematocrit, hemoglobin, mean corpuscular volume, and mean corpuscular hemoglobin content, were measured in newborn F2 mice with C3H wan mutation (pups die within 72h of birth).
