Source C57BL/6NHsd, FVB/NHsd, B6D2F1/Hsd mice were obtained from Harlan Laboratories (Houston TX). B6(Cg)-Tyrc-2J/J mice were obtained from The Jackson Laboratory (Bar Harbor ME). BALB/cAnNCr AND Crl:CD-1(ICR) were obtained from Charles River Laboratories (Wilmington MA). Mice were used immediately if they were the appropriate weight or were bred in brother-sister matings (except Crl:CD-1(ICR)) for no more than 3 generations to obtain sufficient numbers of female mice of the desired weights. Crl:CD-1(ICR) were bred to unrelated males. Teklad Irradiated Diet 2919 (Harlan Laboratories, Madison WI, provided ad libitum
