Diversity Outbred mice were exposed to benzene via inhalation in four dosage groups (0, 1, 10, 100 ppm) for 28 days. The presence of micronuclei in erythrocytes and reticulocytes was determined as a measure of chromosomal damage. Data were collected for peripheral blood and bone marrow. Approximately 20,000 reticulocytes and 106 mature erythrocytes were examined. In addition, the percentage of reticulocytes was determined in approximately 106 mature erythrocytes.

Genotypes are available at DODB (search for French).

Note on studied population: 7th and 8th generations

Experimental groups in this study:
• Benzene 0 ppm     • Benzene 1 ppm     • Benzene 10 ppm     • Benzene 100 ppm

Procedures conducted:
• chromosome instability assessment  Percentages of erythrocytes and reticulocytes that are micronucleated before and after exposure.
