This study uses the 8 Collaborative Cross founder strains and 2 of the CC strains (10 for selected measures) to examine reward sensitivity and impulsivity traits. Mice were tested for activity in an open field and reward sensitivity (intake of chocolate BOOST). Mice were then divided into two counterbalanced groups and underwent reversal learning (impulsive action) or delay discounting (impulsive choice). This research was conducted within the inter-laboratory effort of the Center for Systems Neurogenetics of Addiction (CSNA) to characterize CC and DO mice for multiple, drug abuse related traits.

Procedures conducted:
• open field test  Locomotor response to novelty, habituation.
• bottle choice test  Palatable food consumption, preference for Boost solution.
• operant conditioning chamber  Reversal learning (impulsive action) and delay discounting (impulsive choice).
